BISS GCHS TimberKnolls Courage in the Sky Gold Cup - Amelia has been invited to attend Westminster for the second year in a row! She is the #1 Newfoundland Show Girl in America and has judges falling in love with her from coast to coast. It may be those giant soulful eyes, the graceful way she moves across the show ring, head held high, or very simply, that this precious girl is the epitome of what you'd wish a Newfoundland dog to be. She's loving, kind, compassionate, playful, brave, and friendly. She's also a Therapy Dog. When Amelia isn't in the show ring and on tour, visiting with all of her fans, she visits with Veterans, first responders, health care workers, and patients overcoming illness and trauma. She gravitates to those who need her, in a way only a natural therapy dog can do. No matter how successful and famous she's become or how far she's traveled, she's just a sweet girl who wants to make everyone she meets feel joy.

Many breeds of dogs have come from generations of serving others and the Newfoundland is no exception to that innate desire. They not only thrive in a loving home, but their natural ability to save a human life or work to serve others creates pleasure that is impossible to ignore. As therapy dogs, they work in hospitals visiting the sick or comforting veterans or simply allowing a young child to nestle in their fur as they learn to read. They gain physical strength supporting their long term health, by learning water rescue techniques or pulling a draft cart but most of all, they live happier, more fulfilling lives by giving to others... it's simply their nature.
Benjamin is a champion. A kitchen dog sous chef, he's often found stretched out beneath the feet of whoever happens to be cooking. He adores helping to bake cookies and eat them voraciously. He has a huge heart, almost as big as his massive head. He embraces your spirit through his eyes, loves to be talked to and to be hugged.
She is a Champion, earning her Rally Novice title and the Matriarch of the TimberKnoll pack. She is gentle in spirit yet stands strong, always teaching the younger pups how to be respectful. Milan is strong and spirited. She's feisty and independent, it's not at all unusual for her to find a way to race through a gate and take off for a swim across the lake. She could easily pass her water rescue test but would rather chase ducks than prove herself. As naughty as she can be, she is equally as affectionate. This girl will steal your heart before you know what hit you.
Chewie is big, really, really big. He may be one of the tallest Newfoundland dogs in the country. He's a HUGE kisser and he'll wash your face before you see it coming. Scratch him under the chin and you'll have a lifelong friend.

Stitch was rescued from a horrible fire when she was just a puppy. She was carried from the flames by a brave young firefighter. Several years later, she returned to that firehouse to say thank you, but she was too afraid to climb the stairs. A firefighter came to her and lifted her up, saying 'it's alright, I've carried you before'. It was the same firefighter who'd save her life! Since that time, she's shared her healing touch with patients, healthcare workers, veterans and 1st Responders.
Jazz is a star. We learned of her long before she joined our Newfie Therapy team as we'd heard about her on every visit that Chewie made to his favorite hospital. It was 'Jazz' does this and 'Jazz' does that, everyone loves 'Jazz'. Once we met her we understood why, not only is she gorgeous, will wear costumes for every holiday and has the silkiest long hair but she is such a gentle soul you can't help but melt when she turns her huge deep brown eyes in your direction.
Sweet Jazz passed recently at far too young an age. Patients across SC are mourning her sudden passing, and our heart is broken for her loss.
Ella is beloved by all who meet her. She's a champion herself but you'd never know it by her calm and loving presence. She's not just about the children though, patients of all ages feel better when she's near.
Rook is enormous, really huge, but he's a true lap dog. If he had his way, he'd kiss everyone he met, and then he'd stretch his massive body out and climb up onto their nearest lap. He loves visiting with veterans and first responders, getting his belly scratched, and chasing balls. Mostly, he's just a big, affectionate goofball. He's the dog that would make friends with a goose, because why not? Everyone needs a friend.
Winston has an incredible gift for children. He seems to sense when they really need him. He spends a lot of time walking the hallways of hospitals, searching for those young patients who are afraid or in pain. Even the nurses have come to rely on him when one of their youngest patients needs his eyes to gaze into to get through a painful procedure.
