This is our dogs' favorite ball of all time. We've never had one break, they seem to last forever.  The best part, they taste like mint and freshen your dogs' breath while they play!

It's a toy, it's a place to hide a treat, and it's great for water training because it floats! From one of our all-time favorite toy manufacturers, Planet Dog.

The classic Kong. We always have a few on hand, frozen with peanut butter or soft dog food. They are great for crate training and teething!

Our dogs love every size of Kong's Wubba... they love the strong squeaker ball and to shake the long strips.

Silkens their coat and smells like heaven, jasmine, and vanilla. Another solid product by CC is their Royal Jelly. We love to use this before therapy visits or shows!

Whatever brand you use, it doesn't matter. It could be Libby's or this organic brand to help ease diarrhea. It's a natural aid to helping ease an upset stomach. Not a replacement for contacting your vet, though.

If you're going to own a Newfie you need a great slicker brush. We love Chris Christenson's wood brush, ours may be chewed on by the dogs, but it still works great!

There are many solid rakes on the market, but this is our all-time favorite. The Sullivan comb through Valley Vet

For mats we find the Mars Coat King, which comes in 3 sizes. The 20 blade is best used for the neck and chest while the 10 blade 2 1/2 inch long teeth can be used for mats that are deep down in the hair.

You'll need a nail trimmer or a Dremel. I like this nail trimmer because it has a safety guard to help avoid over-trimming.

No grooming kit or first aid kit is complete without styptic powder, in case you get a bleeder.

There's nothing wrong with crate training. Dogs enjoy their cave and this can become their safe, peaceful space that's all theirs. We always use a frozen peanut butter-filled Kong to help with training. They only get it when they go in for 'bed time'. A good size is this  48" L x 33"H x 30 W. It's also the safest way to travel by car so they don't go flying if you stop short.

We've tried them all, but found this to be our absolute favorite! It's tough, lasts forever, and it keeps our dogs cool and comfortable. We've only found them directly through their website. 

It may have been designed for horses but this shampoo, conditioner, and detangler works great for regular maintenance.

Mushers Secret Dog Paw Wax protects your dogs paws from hot sand, pavement, dirt and snow.  It's truly a secret weapon especially if you live in the city and they throw down salt in winter, the chemicals can burn your dogs paws and this protects them.

An old stand-by for water training your dog. These hold up for years and float beautifully! Great for training or playing in the water.

Another Chris Christenson product we love for our black coated Newfies is this wonderful shampoo.

Whether you get them at a garage sale, in Target, or Walmart, it doesn't matter. We buy white cotton facecloths in bulk. They are the perfect standby for catching and cleaning away drool.

Keen makes great summer sandals for water training Newfies. It helps protect your toes from getting scraped by their powerful  paws.
